Health & Safety

We pride ourselves with the practical application of “Safe Start – Safe End”

The Management of Good Hope Construction leads all its building activities with integrated safe working practices. We pride ourselves with the practical application of “Safe Start – Safe End” to all our construction projects, at all functional levels. We strive through proactive engagement to ensure that this is not just corporate philosophy, but that it operates in the work place as an integrated management tool for all our projects. Our Safety Management System is based on the core principles as detailed in our Company Health and Safety Policy Statement. These foundations, which are established against legislative requirements, industry standards and our own corporate health and safety vision, form the backbone of our operational processes.

We have developed and are continually reviewing our health and safety management systems to support our work practices, so as to ensure for “Safe Start – Safe End” to all our activities.

We work with numerous contracting companies, that in some instances, present significant challenges to maintaining our operational health and safety standards. These challenges we take in our stride, by systematically applying “Safe Start – Safe End” to the activities of the contractor. So, if they don’t start safe, then, they just don’t start at all! Entry-level performance for the contractor is a risk based site Health and Safety plan. This is a mandatory requirement that our H&S team review and approve against the given scope of work.

We recognize the importance of the right ‘safe’ attitude and application of safe work practices by our staff and contractors in the work place. We strive through various awareness initiatives and management – supervisor communications to continually improve ‘worker’ attitude and the application thereof. In this we recognise that our principal asset, is our employee. We recognize that the multidisciplinary development of our staff forms a core mechanism of improving construction project deliveries in a safe and cost-time effective manner.

We recognize that the multidisciplinary development of our staff forms a core mechanism of improving construction project deliveries in a safe and cost-time effective manner. Housekeeping, ‘everything has its place and everything in its place’ whilst housekeeping is an often overlooked, at Good Hope Construction its very important as it under pins our “quality” of delivery. We contend that if a employee or contractor does not integrate housekeeping into their work scope, then not only are there hazards left all over the work place, but there are also significant reasons of concern about the standard of workmanship. Housekeeping is a primary requirement of our philosophy of “Safe Start – Safe End.
